Literary Bad Patch, but back on Track!

My reading choices took a nasty turn for awhile after I found the book in the library by Susan Hill.
( previous blog post) " Howard's End is on the Landing"
I tried to change my choice of reading, broaden my limited horizons, more high brow less Magic.
Well I failed miserably.  Book after book, I struggled, even the HOT new one, I wondered "What The Hell is this?" Classic to Pulitzer contender, I shut down, ( Names withheld, as my reaction is one of a kind).
Sulking didn't help so I just shock it off and piled the alien books to one side.  Now, where is my historical, magical, dark or all three !!!!! In one!

First glance, and beaming intuition this one would save my humiliation

Debut novel, Historical, Magical, Intrigue, and just dark enough!  I rejoiced! The very first chapter grabbed me and I couldn't stop! Page turner, suspense, historical, magic, strong female characters,
brilliant writing!  I await her next novel out very soon!  ( no spoilers , you really must read it!)

My daughter gifted me this book, hoping this would keep me uplifted during these confining times.
Once again, the very first chapter, dives right in, the matriarch of the family used her last burst of Power! To save her family from harm, and fortelling the location of a safer place to settle.
This a wonderful story of Mother's & daughters as well as how each has different level of power at different times or not alt all. Also the importance of passing down life messages, traditions and
magic.
I just started this book ( from my daughter) when I went to help with my grand-daughter when the daycares were the first to close their doors.  Perfect timing!  Magic, Imagination and taming unicorns was our daily goals!
A Secret History of Witches spans centuries, hardships, and over coming daily hardships. This book
will have you spellbound to the very end, as well leaving you with a historical possibility to ponder!
One thing also has me wondering, why does an author use a pseudonym?  as this author has?  Is it because of what was revealed, suggested in the last chapters? Hmm, more on this another time.

Starting 2020, I had a list of "Want to Read " and tried to fill it ( mentioned in previous post)
My third book was one that I was lucky to find after the Yule season cleaned the bookshop
shelves for the New Year.

This author Jess Kidd, is why I bought this book.  PHD in storywriting & Irish! Sounds like a winner to me!
You ALL must! Must! Must! Read this book! I predict a movie series , there MUST be!
Gothic,  curiosities, Who dunit! with a main character your imagination LOVES!
Again! the first chapter had me at
" her nose just long enough to keep the rain off her tobacco "
I have several friends who would Love love Love 🖤 this one of kind story.
I even teared slightly at end, saved by the hint of film possibilities!
No spoilers for any of the above books, You must read them yourselves!

I will not be swaded by popular opinion ever again ( I must of had a very weak moment to have been at all)  If you fine yourself needing to get back!!! to your book, drift off during the day, thinking about the characters your presently reading about,  have the best magical , darkish? dreams ever, then you have found what brings you literary bliss!

Bee Safe! 🖤

book, till finally my senses had had Enough! So I will stick with what I know and reviews from people older than 12 mentally. I chased that book back and forth between two bookshops grrrrr! Nice book jacket though 😂💋♥️
